The week before break was pretty busy with many fun things! We read lots of stories and made lots of Christmas crafts. During our Christmas party, students participated in reading and math centers. They were able to practice skills such as: reading an emergent reader, listening comprehension, sight words, real vs. silly words, and beginning sounds. In math they were able to practice: addition, greater than or less than, number recognition, teen numbers and counting. At our party in the afternoon we played games that consisted of: snowman bowling, candy cane fishing, trimming the Christmas tree and eating a hershey kiss with gloves on! We also decorated beautiful Christmas trees! Next, we studied gingerbread men all week. We read lots of stories and completed activities pertaining to gingerbread men. At the end of the week, I made gingerbread men for my kiddos and they were able to decorate them. All month long we were visited by a reindeer and magical elf, who we named Jingle and Hunter. I'm sure your child has told you all about it! On the very last day before break we had a blast studying the Polar Express. We read the book, watched the movie, stamped tickets, drank hot cocoa, practiced our beginning sounds and sat our chairs like a real train! Students were surprised with jingle bell at the end of the day, reminding them to believe. Enjoy the pictures below!
